The job when you take over
- $7.53M of cap space gives you room for a depth signing or a deadline rental, but not a star.
- 6 contracts end after this season. Decide early who's part of the plan.
- 4 first-round picks over the next three drafts (including 2028 (from DAL)): the ammunition for a big trade, or a fast rebuild.

- Trade with 31 AI general managers who each have their own style, and remember how you've treated them.
- Work the cap: retain salary, buy out contracts, use long-term injury relief and send players to the minors.
- Survive deadline day in the war room, then the July 1 free agency frenzy, offer sheets and arbitration.
- Draft and develop prospects, and coach games yourself from the bench.
